Description: Born from a silly idea, Shopping Spree stands as one of my favourite tracks to ever come out of my time in Ableton. Motifs in this track are pulled from an advertisement for TEMU that aired during the 2024 super bowl, it’s cute, it’s sticky, and most importantly—it’s recognizable! To complement TEMU’s brilliant melody are plenty of bright and bouncy sounds, ranging from simple saw waves to fun garage inspired grooves. Over the course of the track, the motif grows into something more complex while retaining the essential elements presented in the super bowl ad. Overall, this track is a fun and approachable take on something that most people would skip through or mute, and, at least to me, that makes it special. Hopefully you feel similarly!

Description: Blue skies are always so far out of reach, but a good track can make you feel like you’re floating through fluffy white clouds! Touch the Sky was created for a music comp called WTF is Trance! – Vol 2 that aimed to raise money for Palestinian relief. While it skirts the line of being trance, it incorporates elements from many different genres: happy hardcore, psytrance, and hitech! Skittering arpeggios, rhythmic and glitchy noises, big and happy sounding leads, and thick hardstyle drums make for the perfect combination of energetic and adorable that really gives this track a dynamic, fun feeling.

Description: Two musicians, one track. Highrise starts off with many signature Casio Lamb sound choices before evolving into an atmospheric and watery soundscape that signifies Midboozes stellar musical capabilities. What starts off as a quirky song with mouth-made percussion hits and a lead made from bubbles grows into a large and intense atmosphere meant to make you feel like you’ve sunk deep into the ocean. This track tells a story of decisions, facing the reality of jumping into the water and letting worries wash away into the cold but comforting current. Even though this track is darker in tonality than most other tracks I make, that’s the purpose of a collab! Mashing two separate and distinct styles into one cohesive and enjoyable track is a tough task, but one I’d like to think we did quite well on.

Additional Info: Originally, this track was planned for a water themed EP in mid 2022, but eventually evolved into something much more!

Description: Short and sweet. CSIO CRSR pulls from Latin dance music with its lively and upbeat pianos, intricate and tonal percussion, and playful leads. All of this is packaged nicely on top of a jersey club style kick pattern to help create a tonne of momentum in such a short period of time. There’s not too much to be said about CSIO CRSR, and I believe that adds to the charm!

Description: Without a doubt the oldest track on the list. Melu Mall was made for a community Valentine’s event in 2022, the rules meant it couldn’t be longer than a minute-thirty, had to be made for a certain person, and we had only 24 hours to make it! There are many draws from an artist named Hideki Naganuma (best known for producing music for several Sonic games and Jet Set Radio) that gives the song an early 2000s alternative punk feel to it. There are a lot of things about the song I would go back and change if I had made it today, but I think it’s cute and still holds up fairly well!
